Timothy McCain (January 30th,1958- March 7th, 2026)
Timothy McCain, 68, entered into eternal rest on March 7, 2026, in Phoenix, Arizona, fortified by the sacraments of the Holy Catholic Church. Born on January 30, 1958, to Calvin and Violet McCain, Timothy remained a devoted member of the Catholic Church throughout his life. For more than four decades, he shared his musical gifts in service to his faith, beginning at the Franciscan Renewal Center and, in his later years, returning there as a cherished member of its community.
From the very beginning, Timothy was a man of deep conviction and indomitable will—marked by a spirited zest for life and a keen sense of humor. He approached all things with determination and heart, striving to build a life rooted in love, purpose, and accomplishment. Whether as a driven business owner—balancing ambition with a lighthearted office game of foam baseball—or as a devoted father, he encouraged his daughters to pursue excellence in academics and athletics while never losing sight of joy. His humor was ever-present, offering light and comfort even in life's most difficult moments, and remained with him until the very end.
An active and adventurous soul, Timothy's love of baseball began in childhood and endured as a lifelong devotion to the Chicago Cubs. In midlife, he undertook the remarkable journey of cycling across the United States. Later, he set his sights on walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. Though his plans were unexpectedly altered by a diagnosis of glioblastoma in May 2025, his resilience never wavered. Throughout ten months of chemotherapy and radiation, he remained steadfast in body and spirit, walking five miles daily or cycling fifteen miles along the Phoenix canals—an enduring testament to his strength and resolve.
Timothy was richly gifted in music, playing guitar and piano and singing with a beautiful, expressive voice. He shared these talents generously through more than 40 years of music ministry, serving parishes throughout the Valley and in Northern California, including the Franciscan Renewal Center, St. Paul's, St. Gregory's, St. Bernadette, St. Luke's, and Holy Rosary in Antioch.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Violet McCain; his sister, Ellen Mahon; his brother, Dennis McCain; and his sister, Colleen Gomez. He was preceded in death by his father, Calvin McCain, and his brother, Michael McCain. Timothy is also survived by his wife, Tish McCain; his daughters, Danielle Sparenga and Brittany John; and his cherished grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Franciscan Renewal Center, 5802 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale, Arizona, with Father Page presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Timothy McCain's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/).
