Timothy Sean Papp, 64, of Danbury, passed away on January 12, 2026 in Cartagena, Colombia.
Tim died on vacation, days before his son's wedding celebration. He was surrounded by two things he loved: his family and the ocean.
Born on September 20, 1961 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Robert Papp and Gail Papp. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law Joseph Frisina and his brothers-in-law Richard Mesner and Gary Cox.
Tim was a devoted father and friend to many. He grew up in the Danbury area, attended Immaculate High School and got a degree in marketing from Western Connecticut State University.
Tim worked for more than four decades in outside sales, traveling the country and the world selling electrical connectors, machine metal components and AC and DC cooling fans for companies based in Japan, Germany and France.
An excellent cook and lover of food, Tim would return from work trips with stories about what he had eaten, whether durian fruit in Singapore or venison in the Black Forest. He loved to cook for family and friends and mastered a wide range of dishes, from beef stroganoff to chicken mole.
Tim grew up with his brothers on the golf course, caddying from a young age and eventually playing in college. In 1985, Tim married his high school sweetheart, Donna Papp. The two were married for 40 years and were both partners and best friends. They loved spending time with family and friends, taking walks at Harrybrooke Park and going to the beach, where Tim would fish and Donna would read. Whether the weather was hot or cold, Tim was most comfortable in his flip-flops and shorts.
In 1986, Tim and Donna moved to New Milford, CT, where they would raise their two children, Lauren and Justin Papp. Tim was a devoted father who shared his sense of humor with both his children. He taught Lauren to cook, fish, to control her fiery temper and to love travel. He shuttled Justin to and from basketball tournaments and shared with him a love for Anthony Bourdain. He assisted both with countless moves and was always standing by whenever either of his children needed help.
Tim was kind and gentle, with a mischievous grin and an infectious laugh. A highly capable handyman, Tim built an entire back deck at his first home in New Milford and loved working in the yard, despite the occasional mishap (accidentally setting his legs on fire, steering a ride-on mower down a hill into the woods, close encounters with black bears, etc).
Though he claimed he didn't like cats, later in his life he became attached to Fang (who died in 2020) and Buddy, both of whom could frequently be seen cuddled up on his lap as he watched TV at night in his reclining chair.
Tim is survived by his loving wife Donna Papp, of Danbury, CT; daughter Lauren Papp, of Brooklyn, NY, son Justin Papp and daughter-in-law Eloisa Melendez, of Washington, D.C.; brothers Peter Papp and his wife Joan Papp, Michael Papp, and Ralph Papp, and sister Lisa Papp Mesner; mother-in-law Lorraine Frisina; sisters-in-law Candice Cox, Pam Olmstead and husband Bill Olmstead, Lori Curley and husband Chip Curley; nieces Melissa Papp-Shelton and husband Jordan Shelton, Amanda Olmstead and husband Bashar Altameemi, Alyson Olmstead, Kaitlin Cox, Emily Papp and Mali Mesner; nephews Chris Papp and Zach Olmstead; and cat Buddy.
Tim's Goddamn Celebration of Life (he would've gotten a kick out of this name) will be held on Jan. 31 from 3-7 p.m. at 19Main in New Milford. 19 Main St, New Milford, CT 06776. *Note* This is a venue change. Food will be provided, but please feel free to bring a small dish to share, since he loved when people shared their favorite foods. Dress comfortably. Tim would have.
