Tony Glenn Rush, 64, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Windsor, California, after a long and courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Born on August 21, 1961, in Ukiah, California, Tony was the youngest son of Bob and Doris Rush. He spent his childhood immersed in the natural beauty of Hopland at the UC Field Station where his father worked. There, he developed a love for the outdoors while hunting, fishing, and riding dirt bikes with his brother Terry.
Tony’s life took a pivotal turn one warm June evening in Windsor when he was cruising down 4th Street in his dark blue Ford F100 wearing his signature cowboy hat. It was then that Sandy saw his bright smile and flagged him down—a moment that marked the beginning of their lifelong love story. The couple married in June 1981 and built a home together in Windsor, where they have lived for 44 years. Their home became a hub of warmth and activity as they raised two sons and welcomed half a dozen exchange students into their family.
A man of many talents, Tony gained an impressive range of skills through his work in vineyards, the electrical trade, and countless DIY projects. He found immense joy in sharing his knowledge with others—teaching woodworking to 4-H members, mentoring apprentices in the electrical field, and passing down his expertise to his sons. Known for his generous heart and warm smile, Tony was always ready to lend a helping hand to those around him.
When not working or helping others, Tony cherished time with his family. Together they embarked on road trips to national parks, coastal getaways, and adventures along the Rubicon Trail. A longtime member of Burke Hill Hunting Club, Tony spent many deer seasons enjoying camaraderie with friends and family while hunting and shooting. Even as he faced the challenges of dementia later in life, Tony continued to embrace adventure alongside Sandy as they traveled in their RV to visit loved ones, revisit favorite national parks, and spend peaceful days by the beach.
Tony is survived by his beloved wife Sandy; sons Brad (Kamala) and Glenn (Madelin); grandson Ira; brother Terry (Mardi); sister Sue; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Bob and Doris Rush.
Tony’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and resilience. His memory will live on through the lives he touched so deeply. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering the joy he brought to their lives.
