Trava was born in Durant, OK to George Travis Crist and Wilma Jo Crist.
Trava married Domingo Ruiz on November 15, 1968 in Hobbs, NM and they shared 26 years together before his passing on July 27, 1995.
Trava was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Loveland, CO.
Trava is survived by her 4 children, Dr. Jerry Ruiz and his wife Denise of Blanco, TX; Teresa Merritt and her husband Russ of Columbia, SC; Shannon Ruiz and his wife Dr. Gina of Casper, WY; and Michelle Ruiz of Austin, TX, and by her grandchildren: Matthew (Devin) Cady, Kelli (Adam) Fairfield, Jack Cady, Jordan Ruiz, Jonas Ruiz, Samuel Ruiz, Sebastian Ruiz, Colton Merritt, Daniel Merritt and Haley (Tae) Merritt. She is also survived by her sister Beth Allen of Hobbs, NM; plus 8 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Trava was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, her husband, and her son, Jon Derek Ruiz; also, waiting to greet Trava was her dog, Apple.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer 2026.
The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the medical teams who cared for Trava. A special thank you goes to the staff at InnoVage, UCHealth Medical Center of the Rockies, and the team at North Shore Health & Rehab, who ensured her final home was one filled with love.
The family extends a very special "thank you" to Ashley at InnoVage, Trava's "favorite nurse." Trava spoke of you with such high regard and genuine affection; thank you for the light you brought to her final days.
