Travis Paul Knowlton, 37, of Portsmouth, Virginia passed away on April 2, 2026.

A Celebration of Love and Life memorial service will be held at Riverbend Church (Sanctuary) located at 230 Meadow View Blvd., Suffolk, Virginia 23435 on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 5:00 pm with Pastors Bobby Hill and Steve Morgan officiating. Visitation will be held at Riverbend Church (Annex) in Suffolk, Virginia on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.

Travis was born in Ohio to Keith Knowlton and Nancy Rose on October 18, 1988. In the summer of 1999, the family moved to Chesapeake, Virginia, where he attended Hickory High School and graduated in 2007. He went on to receive multiple certifications in pool management and lifeguarding. He was part of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront Surf Rescue team and worked with children at Kids Kollege. He also worked in food service and housekeeping before becoming employed at Huntington Ingalls Inc. Newport News Shipbuilding. He has worked at the Newport News Shipyard since February 2018. In 2023, he graduated from Newport News Shipbuilding's Apprentice School receiving the Niels Christiansen Craftsmanship Award for excelling in craftsmanship among waterfront trades. After graduation, he accepted a position as a foreman at the shipyard. He was currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Leadership at Old Dominion University.

Travis had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed gardening, nature, the park and the beach. He liked going to restaurants, trying new foods, creating art, and taking walks with his dog, Pickles. He regularly attended Riverbend Church in Suffolk, Virginia. He cherished time with his family and friends. He loved people and made friends everywhere. He never met a stranger.

Travis is survived by his partner, Garet Becknell of Portsmouth, Virginia. He is survived by: his father, Keith Knowlton of Chesapeake; his mother, Nancy Rose (Gary) of Smithfield; his sister, Shannon Knowlton (Anthony Monte) of Virginia Beach; his brother, Brandon Knowlton (Stephanie) of Virginia Beach; his nieces and nephews: Tristan, Lina, Selah, Judah, and MJ; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Brannan of Ashland; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Russell & Helen Knowlton, and maternal grandfather, Wesley Brannan.
