Troy Wayne Smith, born April 1, 1953, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles for years to come.

Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Troy later relocated to Georgia in the late 1990s, where he met his husband, Russell White. Together they built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional welcome — a place where family and friends could gather, relax, and always feel they belonged.

Troy was the proud father of Kristen Smith Mills (Jules Parker), Jason Smith (Jenny Smith), and Troy Smith, whom he shared with their mother, Cindy Smith. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren: Ashleigh Roberts-Mills, Sophie Smith, Aidan Mills, Lillian Smith, Ivy Mills, and Vinny Smith.

He was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, T'Nes Nevaeh Smith, who was born into heaven in 2005; his parents, Ruby Smith and Virgil Smith; and his siblings, Jerry Smith, Dorothy Golden, and Dawn Smith Vann.

He is survived by his siblings Robert Smith (Linda), Thomas Smith (Joanne), and Marc Smith (Jennifer), along with many extended family members and dear friends.

Troy dedicated 24 years to General Motors, demonstrating a strong work ethic and deep commitment to providing for those he loved. He found joy in life's simple beauties — especially animals and plants — and shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Brenda.

He will be remembered most for how he made people feel. His home was a refuge of acceptance, comfort, and love, and time spent with him reminded family and friends that they were welcome exactly as they were.

A memorial and birthday celebration honoring Troy's life is being planned for early April. Details will be shared in the coming weeks.

Though he is deeply missed, the love he gave so freely remains woven into the lives of those who knew him.
