Vahan Ayvazian died peacefully surrounded by his family on January 29, 206. Van is survived by his Wife, Geraldine Ayvazian; children, Lisa Ayvazian Broadbent (Tim), Van Ayvazian Jr (Jennifer) and Michael Ayvazian (Tracy) and five grandchildren (Ian, Timothy Jr, Van, Brooklyn and Grant). He is preceded in death by Vahan Ayvazian and Ellen Ayvazian Newman.

Van was born on April 5th, 1940 in Brooklyn, NY to Vahan and Ellen. Van graduated from Iona University in 1962 with a degree in Psychology as well as a Masters Degree from Brooklyn College. Van married Geraldine, his wife of 62 years in 1963. After moving to Canarsie, NY, Van began working for the Boar's Head Provision Company. Over 14 years, the couple welcomed 3 children into their home and Van set about teaching them a strong work ethic . His children remember him as a kind and hard working father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Van was an excellent communicator and listener. These were some of his many talents that made him a natural leader. He was an active and dedicated member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and often volunteered at Guardian Ad Litem.

A funeral is scheduled for 10:30am Thursday February, 26th at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Dr, Sarasota, FL 34231 with a celebration of life to follow at the church. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Van’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Children's Guardian Fund of Sarasota in memory of Vahan Ayvazian. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for all their their care and dedication.
