Valeria G. Price began her life’s journey on August 24, 1947, in East Chicago, Indiana. She was the second child born to Robert and Elizabeth Tolbert. Valeria graduated from Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana, in 1965 and later continued her education at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC), where she earned a degree in Culinary Arts in 1989.
On February 14, 1990, Valeria united in marriage with Alvin S. Price. Their love and devotion to one another endured for 36 beautiful years.
Valeria worked with Support Home Care Options for 12 years, where she was known for her dedication, compassion, and kindness toward others.
Valeria accepted Christ at an early age. Anyone who knew her knew that she loved the Lord. She would often sit with others and have them read scriptures from the Bible to her. She was a member of Northside Church of God until Pastor Sandy Johnson passed away in 2013. Valeria also enjoyed watching Jimmy Swaggart every Sunday and listening to gospel music. Her favorite song was “You Know My Name” by Tasha Cobbs. She loved to cook and bake. Her family was loved her homemade peanut butter cookies.
On February 28, 2026, Valeria was called home to be with the Lord. She will forever remain in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Tolbert; her sister, Evelyn Tolbert; her brothers, Bob Tolbert and Michael Johnican; her daughter, Glenda Tolbert; and her son, Eric Avery.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Alvin Price; her beloved son, Mark Price; her devoted daughter, Amika Avery; five granddaughters, Amisha Harrell, Amina Harrell, Sierhah Price, Temple Price, and Maria Price; two grandsons, Jalan and Isaiah Price; two great-grandsons, Bryson Harrell and Sire Price; her best friend of many years, Katie Grant; along with a host of family and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
