Vicki Hewitt Dochenetz, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 3:48 p.m.
Born on January 1, 1952, to the late Ed and Helen Hewitt, Vicki was a woman of unwavering integrity, strong character, and a remarkable sense of humor. She was known for her fierce love, gentle spirit, and quiet strength that inspired all who knew her. She said what she meant and meant what she said—a true reflection of her honest and authentic nature. To know her was to love her.
Vicki found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She was a devoted fan of UNC basketball and treasured every moment spent with her beloved granddaughters and her only child. Her deep love and devotion to her husband, Keith, was the foundation of her life. A faithful believer in Jesus, she drew comfort and strength from her faith. In her later years, she took great pride in helping run her daughter's business, a role she cherished until her health declined.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Keith Dochenetz; her loving daughter, Danielle Spires Knewstep; her three adoring granddaughters, Caroline (12), Adaline (5), and Evaline (3); her stepdaughter, Rebecca Freliga and stepson, Keith Dochenetz Jr.; her brother, Doug Hewitt; and her sister, Terisa Sawyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Helen Hewitt, and her siblings, Diane Hewitt Tarkington and John Hewitt.
The family will hold a private celebration of Vicki's life for invited guests, honoring the love and legacy she leaves behind.
