Vickie Holland

1950 - 2026

Vickie Minton Holland (“Grandmom”), age 75, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026, at her home in Frisco, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Vickie devoted her life to the people she loved. She was deeply cherished by all who were blessed to know her and will be remembered for her warmth, humor, generosity, and unwavering love for her family.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George; her children, Kevin and Renee; daughter-in-law, Rita; her grandchildren Bryce, Laney, Cade, and Jace; sister, Shari; brothers, Jerry and Shawn; and many dear lifelong friends.

Vickie was born on July 14, 1950, in Richmond, California, and spent most of her life in Dallas, Texas. From a young age, Vickie showed a caring heart and strong sense of responsibility, helping care for her younger brother—qualities that would define her throughout her life. As she entered adulthood, those gifts remained evident.

After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968, she began her career at Allstate Insurance and later worked at Foremost Insurance as a respected assistant underwriter.

In later years, Vickie followed her passion for children and education. She operated an in-home after-school daycare in Lubbock, Texas, then served as an early childhood teacher at The Peanut Gallery. She also supported school operations at Central Elementary in Carrollton and Bent Tree Day School in Dallas.

Vickie gave countless hours in service to her children’s schools, serving as room mom for ten consecutive years and volunteering wherever she was needed. In recognition of her dedication, she received the Parent Teacher Association Lifetime Member Award.

Her greatest joy and proudest role, however, was being Mom and Grandmom. She loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart. She was their protector, confidant, second mom, and steady guiding light.

She had a way of making everyday moments special. Her children remember homemade milk and cookies waiting after school and holidays filled with warmth, excitement, and thoughtful traditions. She created magical Easter celebrations with bunny cakes, egg hunts, and baskets full of treats. Christmas was especially dear to her, from decorating fresh trees to watching It’s a Wonderful Life each year and carefully choosing the perfect gifts for those she loved.

Vickie’s family also treasures the years of vacations they spent together, especially annual gatherings at a cabin in Oklahoma. She planned each trip with joy and care, filling them with outings, delicious meals, scavenger hunts, and lantern-lit “bear hunts” for the grandchildren.

She was full of life and laughter, finding humor in the smallest things and bringing energy wherever she went. She loved sunsets, dancing to country music with her “daytime buddy,” the family cat Petey, decorating her home beautifully, making crafts, creating Christmas wreaths, and sewing Halloween costumes for her children.

Vickie had a rare gift for understanding others. She gave wise advice, offered comfort in difficult times, and made her family feel certain that she was always in their corner.

Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of all who knew her forever. Her family finds peace in knowing she is now with God.
