Victor was born on February 26, 1931 to the late Victor Sr. and Clara (Bergkoetter) Luechtefeld. He was the second of 3 "only" children. He graduated from St. Louis University in 1953 with a degree in Business/Accounting. He was married to Virginia (Binny) Ford for 62 years.
Victor was the father of Susan Reeves, Richard Luechtefeld, Cathy Vivirito and Joan Delabar. He was a generous and caring father-in-law to Pam, Kurt, Tom and Phil. He is survived by his dear sister, Pete, and her husband, Art Scheer.
Victor was predeceased by his wife, Binny, in 2016; by his sister, Barbara, in 2005; and by his daughter, Susan in 2023.
Victor was a loving and caring grandfather to Brian, Danny, Katie, Elizabeth, Tim, Michael and Ryan. He was a great grandfather to Nick, Henry and Charlie. He went to great efforts to make sure they knew they were loved. He was affectionately known by many nicknames such as "The Big Boss" and "The Sainted One."
Victor worked as a buyer for Central Hardware for much of his career. He had a passion for playing bridge and gin rummy with family and friends. He would often thank everyone for letting him win. He loved going to the family farm with the entire family, going to Innsbrook, giving away unexpected pets on holidays and relaxing with his martini. He gave generously with his time and money to many charitable causes. He especially enjoyed his time working at Circle of Concern and convincing all family members to volunteer.
Victor often described himself as a man who didn't take himself too seriously. He enjoyed playing jokes. Once he created a "weather rock" that placed outside could predict if it was currently raining. He provided magic seeds (dogfood nuggets) that when planted in a pot would mysteriously grow overnight into a full and flowering plant. Goldfish in a tank would miraculously have adult size babies overnight.
The memory of Victor Luechtefeld will live on with his family and friends though the countless bridge and gin games to still be played.
