In Loving Memory of Vincent Altieri
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Vincent Altieri on October 22, 2025, at the age of 57, surrounded by his loving family.
Vincent was born on August 21, 1968 in the Bronx, New York to loving parents, Joseph and Antoinette Altieri. Vincent grew up in Airmont, New York, surrounded by strong values and close family bonds that shaped his character. He graduated from Niagara University with a Bachelors of Arts in History. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. During his studies, he also attended Brunel University of London, working in the U.K. Parliament.
Vinny's professional life was defined by a deep sense of duty and dedication to serving others. He began his early career in Washington, D.C. and Florida, serving in several respected legal roles, including Senior Assistant Attorney General and Staff Attorney for the Supreme Court of Florida in Tallahassee.
In New York, Vinny served as Regional Attorney for the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC). He later joined the Office of the Rockland County Executive as Director of Intergovernmental Relations. In 2011, Vinny became Executive Director of the Rockland County Drainage Agency where for nearly 15 years he led projects to protect local waterways and strengthen environmental resilience. His thoughtful leadership, professionalism and collaborative spirit earned him the respect of colleagues across every level of government.
Beyond his administrative service, Vinny also brought his wisdom and fairness to the bench. He served as Associate Justice for the Village of Suffern from 2015 to 2018 and was elected Village Justice of Spring Valley in 2023, a roll he held until his passing . Whether in the courtroom or the community, Vinny was guided by compassion, humility, and steadfast, belief in justice.
However, Vinny's greatest role and joy was as father to his two beautiful children, Anna and Joseph. He cherished every moment with them, whether on their many road trips, school or after school activities.
A devoted Catholic, Vinny's faith was the cornerstone of his life. He deeply valued relationships and made it a priority to stay connected with family and friends,no matter how busy life became. Those who knew him will remember his humble spirit, warmth, fabulous sense of humor and unmistakable laugh that could fill a room. His presence brought joy and laughter wherever he went.
Vinny is survived by his loving parents, Joseph and Antoinette Altieri; his cherished children, Anna and Joseph Altieri; and his sister, Dorothy Balon of Scottsdale, Arizona. He was also a beloved uncle to Jack, Ava, Arianna, and Joseph Balon, all whom adored him deeply. Vinny will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
