Virginia Anne Heineman

1953 - 2026

Virginia Anne (Ginny) Heineman was born May 15, 1953, in Richland, Washington and passed away peacefully in her sleep at Aegis Living Madison in Seattle, on March 26, 2026. She was preceded in death by her mother and stepfather (Jane and Don Cooper), father and stepmother (Robert Sr. and Joan Heineman), stepbrother John Koberg, and sisters-in-law Linda Heineman and Maria Heineman. Ginny is survived by her husband, David Moore, her daughter Monique Heineman, granddaughter Chloe Davila, brothers Thomas (wife Heidi) and Robert Heineman, stepsisters Katherine Koberg (Chris Rideout), Karen Koberg, Kathleen Rhoads (Russell) and Lynne Cooper, stepbrother Donald Cooper (Yvonne), ex-husband and Monique’s father David Firestone, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ginny attended Columbia High School in Richland and attended Washington State University in Pullman after graduation. Later she transferred to the University of Washington in Seattle. Living in Seattle, she formed many new friendships but always kept in touch with family and friends in Richland. Her beloved daughter Monique was born in January 1977 to Ginny’s great joy. They enjoyed being outdoors biking, boating, and snow skiing when Monique was young. When Monique’s precious daughter Chloe was born in July 2000, Ginny’s cherished role as grandmother began. Ginny was a deeply involved grandmother, seeing Chloe regularly for sleepovers, endless fun, and fostering her love of fashion. After she and husband Dave Moore were married in 2002, they bought and lived in a beautifully restored home overlooking Lake Washington. Married for over 23 years, Ginny and Dave had a wonderful life together enjoying a blended set of friendships.

Ginny earned her BS in Psychology from the University of Washington in 1979. Following graduation, she worked for the Crisis Clinic-Seattle, training and supervising telephone crisis counselors. After obtaining a computer programming certification in 1983, she began work as a programmer, software developer, and then group manager for local companies, ending as a systems development manager at Airborne Express. She then worked as a project manager consultant supporting The Boeing Company’s Commercial Airplanes division, and later as a program manager in Information Management and Computing Security. She became a Boeing employee in 2001, where she was promoted to Senior Information Technology manager. She and husband Dave retired from Boeing on the same day in March 2014.

Ginny had numerous interests throughout her life, including scuba diving, boating and water skiing on the Columbia River and Lake Sammamish, snow skiing in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia, gardening, the ballet, traveling, and watercolor painting. She was proud to be on the core team that created the Seattle chapter of “100 Women Who Care” - who personally donate and fundraise to support local charities. She was a life-long animal lover with special affection for family pets, including her childhood German Shepherd (Shadow) and squirrel monkey (Kola), for her mother’s Arabian horses and her own palomino saddle-horse (Goldie), her cockatiel (Grayson), Monique’s many cats (Bad-Bad, Buster Brown, Yoda, and Pudding), and particularly for Maddie, the sweet West Highland White Terrier who oversaw Ginny and Dave’s home with vigor.

Ginny was always known as a deeply caring and nurturing person to her siblings even at a young age, and later to Dave, Monique, Chloe, and her many adult friends. She had an inner strength, sense of humor, and intelligence that left a mark on the people who knew and loved her. Her passing leaves a substantial void in many hearts.
