Virginia Carole Lewis-Baird, known affectionately to friends and family as Ginny, passed away on February 23, 2026 with her family by her side. Born on January 22, 1949, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she lived a life defined by joyful service, outdoor adventure, and an unwavering love for her community.
Ginny was a vibrant spirit from her youth. During her time at Godwyn High School, she was an energetic cheerleader and a talented flute player in the band. Her adventurous heart and love for skiing eventually called her west to the majestic Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It was there that she established a long and dedicated career with King Soopers, retiring after more than thirty years as a proud and hardworking produce clerk.
Upon retirement, Ginny began a new chapter in Bullhead City, Arizona. Initially arriving as a "snowbird," she soon fell in love with the area and made it her permanent home. She wasted no time becoming a pillar of her new neighborhood. She served as a Treasurer and was an active member of the community planning committee. Ginny was a creative problem solver who was always looking for ways to improve the lives of those around her. Whether she was playing pickleball, shuffleboard, painting rocks, or enjoying the outdoors through hiking and boating, she approached every hobby with enthusiasm.
Above all, Ginny was a beacon of light. She was a selfless giver and a truly great listener who made everyone feel heard and valued. Her friends will fondly remember her singing karaoke, dancing, and organizing community socials. A devout Christian, Ginny’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was deeply involved with Caring Neighbors and organized numerous church gatherings, viewing her service to others as a reflection of her love for God.
Ginny is survived by her devoted husband, Dan Baird; her brother Ken Snyder and and Karl Snyder (Alice), and her sister Rosemary Herweyer (Mike); her sons, Mark Lewis, Kenny Lewis (Kandi), Curtis Lewis; and her daughters, Laura Iacino (Steve), Liz Dill (Ryan), and April Lewis; and 40 grandkids and great grandkids. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will take place in Colorado in June of this year, with the specific date to be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ginny's name to Samaritans Purse International Relief at www.samaritanspurse.org.
