It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother and Grandmother, Virginia Price Martz, 84, who died peacefully at home in Roswell on February 5, 2026. Born in 1941, Virginia was a woman of remarkable resilience, wit, and boundless generosity. A native of Cobb County, Virginia graduated from Sprayberry High School and Mercer University in 1963 with a degree in English. She married Richard Earl Martz in 1963 and they were happily married for 54 years. Virginia’s life was a symphony of service and style. She often shared the story of receiving her first piano, a gift that sparked a lifelong passion for music. She was the pianist for Covenant Presbyterian Church for many years and she taught piano lessons early in her marriage. For 25 years, she and Richard welcomed foreign students into their home and also remained steadfast in their refugee support. Her community roots ran deep through her involvement in the League of Women Voters, Pacesetters Sunday School class, Questers, multiple book clubs, Garden Club, Rotary, and the Music Club. Known for her “never quit” spirit, Virginia faced numerous health challenges including multiple bouts of cancer and injuries from a broken leg and accidents at home and church with incredible perseverance. Between these hurdles, she found joy in her grandchildren, frequent travel, legendary shopping trips, her beautifully curated closets, and her deep love for her friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Shelly) Martz Lehmann (Scott) and her son, Richard Earl Martz Jr. (Shawn). Her grandchildren include Virginia Claire Lehmann, Jackson Rush Lehmann, Caroline Marie Martz, Lauren Saunders Martz, and Julia Frances Martz. Additionally, many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Martz, her parents, Hoyt and Frances Price, and by her sister, Marilyn Harris.

The family gives special thanks to her niece and companion, Ginger Clements. The family also thanks the dedicated caregivers of Capstone Hospice as well as Given Mwitumwa, Grace Jele, Maria Zulu, and Prisca Silishebo who helped her gently leave this world and enter the Kingdom of God.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Dunwoody United Methodist Church with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at two o’clock. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Road, Dunwoody, GA 30338
