In loving memory of Virginia Ann Walker, who passed away on December 6, 2025, in Escalon, California, at the age of 90, we celebrate a life well-lived. Born on October 19, 1935, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Although her professional journey was brief, Virginia spoke fondly of her time with the Storer bus company in Modesto, CA, and Sterling Inn in Victorville, CA. However, her true passion was in her role as a homemaker and mother, and the unwavering support she provided to her husband, John Edward Walker, a lifelong farmer. Her dedication to her family was her greatest joy.
Virginia was a devout Catholic, whose faith deeply influenced her daily life. While her children were young, she was an active member of Saint Christopher's Catholic Church, where she sang in the church choir and handled floral arrangements for Sunday services. Her children attended 12 years of parochial School and graduated from Central Catholic High School, carrying forward her legacy of faith.
Surviving her are two brother in-laws: Robert and James Walker as well as her three children: Alan Walker (71), Robin Holly (67) [Tony], and Brian Walker (66) [Denise]. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, including Jeff Walker [Denise], Dane Landrith [Lizz], Kara Fajkus [Jason], Austin Houser, Brenden Walker [Heather], Lindsey Gibson [Jayson], Jonny Houser, and Cassie Brown [Ryan]. Her great-grandchildren, Ariana, Layla [Jeff and Denise], Walter, Conall [Dane and Lizz], Jorden, James, Jack [Kara and Jason], Conner, Ellie [Brenden and Heather], Deryk, Abbygale, Charley, Jaymie [Lindsey and Jayson], Oliver, and Piper [Cassie and Ryan], carry on her legacy of love and family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her spouse, John Edward Walker (2024), and her daughter, Gale Marie Houser (1994), as well as her siblings Frederick W Will (2006) and Carolyn R Weaver (2021). Her brother-in-law Ronald Walker (2017), also predeceased her.
Virginia was known for her kind, compassionate, and welcoming nature. She was always happy to host friends and family, eager to cook and feed them, and found joy in thrifting and gardening. She loved signing to her grandchildren and participated in singing competitions with Sweet Adelines in Washington and Oregon and in Escalon's Fun Bunch. In her later years, she and Eddie thoroughly enjoyed traveling in their fifth-wheel to visit high school friends with their dog Maddie, riding on the center console.
Her memory will be cherished by those who knew her, and her legacy of love, faith, and family will continue to inspire. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her. A Memorial Mass will be held on February 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church 1813 Oakdale Road, Modesto, CA
