Walter L. Silknitter, 82, husband of Ethyle A (Cassel) Silknitter, Gilbertsville, PA died on Monday, January 19th at Phoenixville Hospital.
Walter was born on February 28, 1943 in Norristown, PA to the late Robert W. and Anna A. (Leister) Silknitter.
Before retiring, Walter worked as a truck mechanic and welder for Allied Tank Co., in Collegeville, PA, a trade he took great pride in. Outside of work, Walter found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He had a lifelong love of cars. He enjoyed attending car shows, admiring classic vehicles and rebuilding or restoring old vehicles, his favorite restoration being his Shelby Cobra. At home, he would often be found relaxing with his crossword puzzle books, or you would often see him out on one of his walks.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Walter is survived by his children, Kristin, wife of D. Eric DeBlase, Pottstown, PA and Curtis, husband of Faith (Orlando) Silknitter, Boyertown, PA; his grandchildren, David DeBlase, Erica DeBlase, Jacob Silknitter and step-grandchildren, Marissa Dobbs and Katelyn Dobbs; and his brother, Robert, husband of Geraldine (Spera) Silknitter. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Faye MacFarland and William Silknitter.
