Wardell Collins

Wardell "Butch" Collins was born on September 8, 1957 to Robert L. Collins and Mattie M. Windon in Gary, Indiana.
Wardell attended Edison Middle School and West Side High School class of 1976. He then enlisted into the US National Guard in 1976.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. Collins and Mattie M. Windon; his brothers Robert Collins Jr., Ricky Collins, Benard Collins, Stanley Collins, Delroy Collins and sister Metrice Hayes.
Wardell was a man of strength, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family. He lived a life defined by integrity, hard work, and quiet sacrifice. To know him was to know kindness, steady guidance, and a heart that always put his loved ones first. Whether simply sitting in comfortable silence, he made everyone feel safe and valued.
Wardell dedicated many years working for the City of Gary earning the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of those he served. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing. His gentle spirit will forever echo in our hearts.
He leaves to cherish his memory: High School Sweetheart (Wife) Rose Collins, (Daughters) Robyn (Ricardo)Castillo, and RoShanta Collins, (Grandchildren) RoSharia, Corina and Cordell Crawford. His sisters Amatullah Mohammed and Victoria Collins; Brother DuSean Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
