Wayne Francis "Rocky" Rockafellow, 78, passed away on February 27, 2025, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Born on September 22, 1946, in Charlotteville, New York, to Marion and Charles Rockafellow, Rocky lived a life full of adventure, dedication, and love.
Rocky proudly served his country for 27 years in the military. His service began in the regular Army and continued with the New York National Guard and Florida National Guard. As a Chaparral missile technician, he demonstrated exceptional skill and commitment to his duties. He retired as a Master Sergeant in 2006 after an honorable career that left a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.
In addition to his military career, Rocky was a successful businessman. From 1983 to 1986, he owned Rocky's Tavern in Gloversville, New York. Later, he co-owned Rocky & JD's Tavern with his wife JD in Edgewater, Florida, from 1998 to 2007. These establishments became cherished gathering places for friends and community members alike.
Rocky had a zest for life that was evident in his many hobbies and passions. He loved hunting in upstate New York and could often be found on the golf course or riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle with his beloved wife JD and their many friends. Summers were spent traveling north to New York and Canada with JD, while winters brought cherished trips to Mexico and Hawaii. He also enjoyed relaxing with a cold beer in hand, savoring moments of camaraderie and laughter.
Above all else, Rocky was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife JD; daughter Michelle (TJ) Snell; sons Eric and Coty (Megan); and grandson Erin. His kindness, humor, generosity, and caring nature left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Though it has been a year since his passing, the pain of his loss remains profound for family and friends who miss him daily.
Rocky's legacy is one of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
