Wendy Elizabeth Upton (formerly Sisler) suddenly passed on January 24th, leaving behind a wonderful life and so many of us who love her deeply. Her generous and loving ways were felt by all who knew her.
Wendy was born June 6th,1961 in Petaluma, California to Marilyn and Dr. David Sisler, and quietly grew up with her large family and circle of friends, observing and learning in her unconditional ways what life was all about.
Graduating from Petaluma High School in 1979, she first attended the San Francisco Art and Design Academy, and then went on to accumulate many other life experiences and gather more friends along her way.
While in Hawaii as nanny for her brother’s adored children, Wendy met a very special friend ... the love of her life and eventual husband ... Michael Upton. They married and worked for a few years in Hawaii, living in paradise and enjoying their church community before returning to Petaluma to start a family of their own. Their daughter Hannah and son Benjamin were always Wendy's pride and joy, and her dream of being a grandma was realized by the recent birth of little Ruthie, Hannah and Tyler’s baby daughter. Wendy and Michael experienced the joy of lifelong travel and ownership of a thriving business that she, Hannah and Ben all contributed significantly to.
She had a beautiful artistic eye and expressed it in every area of her life ... her mark was everywhere, especially in her home. She loved cooking and baking for family and friends with all her thoughtful touches in such warm, fun, generous ways.
Wendy was a true friend to every one of us with her patient support and respectful understanding, and she showed everyone in her life how to bridge differences of opinion ... she was such a keen listener, always most interested in what was going on with you.
Wendy taught us by example so much about real kindness and the love of Jesus that we will be able for a long time to ponder, smile and recall her fondly. We will hold her in our grateful hearts till we meet again. We were so very blessed to have our Wendy.
Wendy is survived by Husband Michael, Daughter Hannah, Son Benjamin, Son-in-Law Tyler, Siblings Mary, Jon, Paul, Bruce, Lynn, David, Karen, Katherine, Beth and Tommy.
A private family service will be held. Anyone wishing to donate in Wendy’s name, the family is asking donations to be sent to Redwood Gospel Mission in Santa Rosa. www.rgm.org
