Werner Keim passed away peacefully on January 15, 2026, in Yuba City, California, just days before his 92nd birthday. Born on January 23, 1934, in Sumatra, Indonesia, Werner's life journey spanned continents and oceans, marked by dedication to his work and deep connections with those around him.
Werner began his professional life as a mariner, a calling that reflected his enduring love for the sea. His early years navigating the world's waters instilled in him a sense of adventure and resilience. Later, he transitioned into a career as a technology manager—a role in which he applied his discipline and leadership to guide others through the evolving landscape of innovation.
After retiring from the tech industry, he and Harriet settled in Yuba City, California, where they purchased land and planted persimmons in 1990. We are grateful for the many wonderful people who managed the trees. Over the many decades, they became another family.
Throughout his life, Werner found strength and community in faith. He and Harriet were devoted members of Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Yuba City. The congregation was not only their place of worship but also their spiritual family. They cherished the love and fellowship they received there and gave it back in equal measure.
Werner is lovingly remembered by his sisters, AnneMarie Quist and Inge Duncan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet, and brothers, Peter Keim and Rene Keim.
In accordance with his wishes and lifelong bond with the ocean, Werner's ashes will be scattered off the coast of Marin, California by Trident. This final return to the sea honors both his beginnings as a mariner and his enduring connection to the water.
May Werner Keim's memory bring comfort to those who knew him and peace to all who carry his legacy forward. A Memorial Service will be held on January 31, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 01:30 PM at Saint Andrew's Presbyterian Church 1390 Franklin Rd, Yuba City, California
