Wilbert (Bill) Reed Lampe, 67, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 1st, 2026, in his home in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico.

Bill was born October 18, 1958, to Ronald Lampe Sr. and Loretta (Barus) Lampe in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Bill's father served in the U.S. Army, and so the Lampe family moved frequently. Bill grew up in military base communities located in Nebraska, Kansas, Germany, Wisconsin, Alaska, Massachusetts, and finally to El Paso, Texas, where he graduated from Andress High School.

After high school, Bill joined the U.S. Army and served for several years at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas, until he was honorably discharged due to an injury incurred while in the Army.

After his discharge, Bill worked as an apartment building manager in El Paso. He then moved to Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, where he worked as a mobile home park manager until his retirement. Here, Bill raised his daughter Janet, whom he shared with Carol Jacques, and was a loving father figure to Carol's elder daughter, Jennifer.

Bill was a motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed tinkering and building, and was an avid reader. He was an affectionate Grandpa to Jennifer's daughter Alexandra and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of a second grandbaby, due later this year. Bill was known for his dry sense of humor and stubborn attitude. If asked where he was going, his favorite reply was, "straight to hell if I don't change my ways!" Among his favorite hobbies was pushing Janet's buttons.

Bill is survived by his daughters Janet Lampe and Jennifer Jacques; granddaughters Alexandra and Olivia Gordon; brothers Ronald (Sally) Lampe Jr. and Donald Lampe; sister Lynn (Ike) Evans; nieces Erin and Audrey Evans; two grandnieces; and his beloved cat. Bill is preceded in death by his parents and Carol.

Bill's ashes will be scattered at Fort Stanton, New Mexico. Bill was a lifelong fan of the bands Led Zeppelin and AC/DC, and those wishing to honor his memory are invited to listen to his favorite music.
