It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Wilda Whitehead Furister, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. Wilda departed this earthly realm on March 23, 2026, at the age of 80. Her journey began in Jacksonville on September 15, 1945, as the cherished daughter of Kenneth Whitehead and Marcella Perry. Her husband Truman Larry Furister and Brother Richard Whitehead who predeceased her and now welcome her home.
Wilda was a beacon of love and kindness, known for her remarkable ability to make everyone around her feel cherished and valued. She believed with all her heart that Jesus Christ is everyone's Savior, a faith that guided her life and inspired her unwavering love for all those she encountered.
Wilda shared over 30 beautiful years of marriage with her husband, Larry Furister, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a family rooted in love and devotion. Wilda is survived by her loving brother: Micheal Whitehead and devoted children: Kim (Milton), Dawn (Richard), Brenda (Kurt), Linda (Ken), and her son, Larry Jr. Her legacy further lives on in her granddaughters Amber (Nick), Amanda, Stormy, grandson Steven, and 14 other treasured grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life.
A dedicated professional, Wilda retired from Clay County Transportation, where she served as a school bus driver. Her commitment to the safety and well-being of the children she transported was a testament to her caring nature and strong work ethic.
Wilda's warmth and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a woman of grace and strength, who shared unconditional love without reservation. Her legacy will forever be carried on by those who were fortunate enough to be loved by her.
Her final resting place is now with her father Kenneth Whitehead in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens.
