It is will great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Wilhelmina J. "Mina" Boyles on February 14, 2026 at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, WA. She was surrounded by her loving children. Mina was born May 25, 1939 in Altoona, Pennsylvania to John F. Weld and Blanche E. (Morris) Weld. She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Michael D. "Nick" Boyles, originally from Altoona, and her son, Michael E. Boyles of Anchorage, AK.
On October 22, 1956 she and Nick were married in Biloxi, Mississipi when Nick was stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. From there, the USAF sent them to Japan, Minnesota, Taiwan, Florida, Alaska, California, Ohio and Texas. During the Vietnam war Nick was stationed in Thailand for close to a year, while Mina stayed home taking care of nine children on her own. In 1978, they moved back to Alaska where they both remained, a place they both loved very much. They spent their summers as campground hosts in Seward, a job she loved and made so many friends from Alaska and around the world. She always said her greatest accomplishment was her nine children, twenty-one grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Donna Boyles (Nathan Jackson), Barbara Bridges (Van Sr), Connie Aldana, Thomas Boyles (Judy), Patricia Degler, Gerald Boyles (Lisa), Cynthia Lewis (Michael) and Brenda Wetstein (Ben). She also leaves behind her grandchildren Michelle Smith and her daughter, Van Bridges Jr (Sara) and their children, Ivan Aldana (Erika) and their children, Candace Boyles and her children, Elizabeth Cone (Rodney) and their children, Matthew Bridges (Jenna) and their children, Jennifer Shaw (Israel) and their children, Eric Aldana (Lanie) and their children, Jason Lewis (Megan) and their children, Megan Hafer (Garret) and their children, Emilee Turk (Alex) and their children, Lillian Lewis, Nicholas Boyles, Samuel Boyles and his son, Ramey Boyles and his daughter, Tara Koch (Matt) and their children, Amy Hernandez and her children, Judy Tansey (Brian) and their children, Hannah Boyles, James Wetstein (Rachel) and their children, and Nicole Wetstein.
A funeral and celebration of life will take place in Summer 2026
