William Bastian, 73, of Paramus, New Jersey, passed away on February 15, 2026, peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones. William, known to many as Bill, lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and a deep love for his family. Bill built a long and respected career as a Customer Senior Field Engineer with Memorex Telex and EMC Corp (now known as Dell Inc.). He had an innate curiosity about how things worked and took great satisfaction in taking apart computers and cars. Whether it was a technical issue or a mechanical challenge, he knew how to fix it. Bill found joy in simple pleasures; he loved fishing trips to Point Pleasant and Long Beach Island with his sons, son-in-law, and grandsons. These were moments that became cherished traditions filled with laughter and bonding.

His appreciation for nature extended beyond the shoreline; as a member of the Bergen County Photography Club, he captured stunning images of the natural world, the New York skyline, and treasured family moments through his lens. His love for classic rock and roll remained throughout his life; in his teenage years, he played his electric blue guitar. He also had a lifelong passion for cars, especially for his Pontiac Catalina. He cherished family road trips no matter the destination. Bill was known for his quiet demeanor and sharp wit. He never complained or sought sympathy; instead, he faced every challenge with resilience and grace. A responsible and hardworking man led by example and instilled those values in those around him.

Above all else, Bill was devoted to his family. He shared 56 years of happiness with his beautiful, loving wife Patricia. Together, they had a full life filled with enduring memories and unconditional support. He will be forever missed by his daughter, Lisa Derbalian, and husband, Avo; sons, William Bastian and Shannon, David Bastian and Christine. Bill was a proud grandfather to Jacob, Cristian, Leila Derbalian and Jordan and Kendall Bastian, all of whom adored their "Papa". Loved like a brother by his in-laws, Dr. Jaime F. Lara, Jaime A. Lara, Amy Lara-Lowrey, Charles Lara, and Martin Lara. Bill was predeceased by his mother and father Frank and Lucille Bastian.

William Bastian's legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, with quiet strength, gentle humor, steadfast love, and an unshakable sense of responsibility. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

A mass service will be held at St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in River Edge, NJ at 11a.m on February 21, 2026.
