William Hermann, known by his friends and family as Billy and Bill, passed away on December 20, 2025, at home. Bill brought joy to everyone who met him throughout his almost 80 years. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeannette (Beers) Hermann and father Benjamin Roe Hermann. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Dakin in Massachusetts and Judith H. Therrien in California, as well as three nephews, Paul Dakin, Steve Dakin, and Jose Saavedra, and two nieces, Kristen Therrien and Lara Saavedra.
Bill was born in Pittsfield, MA and raised at home in Lanesborough, MA until age 6. He spent his school age years living at Belchertown State School. In 1977, he was on a team of athletes who traveled to Paris for
The Special Olympics and came back with numerous medals. In the mid-1980's when Belchertown State School closed, Bill moved to Arlington, Massachusetts and he lived in group home there until 2022, and later moved to a group home in Burlington, MA. Bill was very close with his housemates and his wonderful staff at Nexus, Inc. He is missed and remembered fondly by his family, friends, and community.
