William (Bill) Hermann

1946 - 2025

William G. Hermann, known by his friends and family as Billy and Bill, passed away on December 20, 2025, at home. Bill brought joy to everyone who met him throughout his almost 80 years. He is preceded in death by his mother Jeannette (Beers) Hermann and father Benjamin Roe Hermann. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Dakin in Massachusetts and Judith H. Therrien in California, as well as two nephews, Paul Dakin and Steve Dakin, and two nieces, Lara Saavedra and Kristen Therrien.

Bill was born in Pittsfield, MA and raised at home in Lanesborough, MA until age 6. He spent his school age years living at Belchertown State School. In 1977, he was on a team of athletes who traveled to Paris for the Special Olympics and came back with numerous medals. In the early 1980's, Bill moved to Arlington, MA where he lived in group home until 2022, and he later moved to a group home in Burlington, MA. Bill attended St. John's Episcopal Church in Arlington, and was beloved by neighbors in the congregation. Bill was like a family member to his housemates and the many wonderful staff at Nexus, Inc. He is missed and remembered fondly by his community.

In lieu of sending flowers, donations in Bill's name are appreciated tremendously, to any one of these: Nexus Inc (http://www.nexusinc.org/donate), Best Buddies International (http://www.bestbuddies.org/mari/) or American Association of People with Disabilities (http://www.aapd.com).
