William "Bill" Prevost passed away peacefully from heart failure with complications from the flu on December 21, 2025. He was 80 years old.
Bill was born in Bay City, Michigan, to Mary and George Prevost, the youngest of eight children, with four sisters and three brothers. He is survived by three siblings, Marge Martella, Carolyn McDonell, and Kay Corcoran, his wife Jan, two sons, Tom (Mary Lou) and Chris (Johanna), and five grandchildren, William, Alexander, Annika, Olivia, and Blake.
He grew up in Michigan and went on to graduate from the University of Detroit with a degree in Electrical Engineering, laying the foundation for a long and accomplished professional career.
Bill devoted over 30 years to General Electric and Westinghouse, where he ultimately served as CEO of a division within Westinghouse. Never one to stop innovating, he later assisted with several start-up health, technology, and alternative energy companies. His career brought his family to many parts of the country, including Michigan, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Virginia, Ohio, Washington, and California. In 2019, Bill and his wife Jan made Naples, Florida their full-time home.
Above all else, Bill was devoted to his family and lived his Catholic faith openly, unapologetically, and joyfully. He was married for 60 years to his beloved wife Jan, a partnership rooted in love, humor, and unwavering commitment.
Those who knew Bill will remember him as selfless, compassionate, deeply prayerful, and steadfast in his convictions. He was a man who understood the responsibilities of being a husband and father, who brought humor and gentle jokes into daily life, and who unceasingly prayed for others. Bill will be remembered as a great communicator and conversationalist and could talk to anyone about anything.
He will be deeply missed and joyfully entrusted to God's eternal mercy.
