William Howard Blades

1947 - 2026

William “Bill” Blades, Sr., born March 27, 1947, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and lasting impact on all who knew him. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army serving in Korea during the Vietnam War.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He shared a loving life with his beloved wife, Catherine (née Collins), whose partnership and support were central to his life.
He is survived by his son, Bill Blades Jr. (Jamie); his daughter, Stephanie Gough (Greg); his sister, Betty Lee Vaughn; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Those who knew Bill will always remember that from his early years and throughout his life, he had a love for girls, baseball, and cars—a reflection of his spirited personality and lifelong passions. He will also be remembered for his strength of character, his wisdom, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Bill touched many lives through both his personal relationships and his professional endeavors, leaving a lasting impression on friends, colleagues, and family alike. He had a great sense of humor, often leaving one to wonder how true that story could possibly be. He once told Catherine a very detailed story about his purchase of a 1953 fire truck for their property in Cheyenne. The phrase, “for true or for firetruck“ was used quite frequently with Bill ever thereafter.

His memory will live on in the lives he shaped, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.

A private family celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
