William R. Blain, age 72, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025 at Autumn Lake Care Center in Waterbury, CT after complications from a stroke. He was the son of the late Naomi (Roberts) and William Blain of Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. Bill had emigrated to the US following his marriage to Diane in the mid-1980's and resided mainly in Danbury, CT.
He had previously worked at the Parks Commission and the Shredded Wheat Bakery in Niagara Falls and interim at the Iron Ore Company of Canada in Labrador City. Bill then spent 20 years as Human Resources Manager in the Danbury, CT and Brewster/Carmel, NY areas for Danbury Pharmacal/Schein Pharmaceuticals/Watson Labs. He volunteered frequently at the Vespucci Lodge in Danbury where he was a member for many years. Besides that, he was active in the Parent-Teacher Association at Sacred Heart School in Danbury grilling at weekly bingo night and athletic events. And he was especially thrilled to participate in the 'Men Who Cook' fundraisers for Putnam County during his professional career.
Bill is survived by his children Catherine and Benjamin and grandson Nasir; also 5 sisters Bonnie (John), Lynne (Richard), Barbara, Mary Lois (Hans), Danna Gayle (Frank). His brother-in-law Arnold pre-deceased him. Bill was uncle to 11 nieces and nephews; a niece had pre-deceased him.
Service and burial will be at Wooster Cemetery in Danbury.
