William (Bill) Blum of Elizabeth, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, March 7th, surrounded by his loving family. Son of William Arthur and Virginia Estelle (Wilcox), he was born on September 12, 1944, in Columbus, MS. He graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School and entered the Air Force shortly after, serving proudly from 1962 to 1966, including service in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, he began his career in IT that would span four decades. Soon after marrying the love of his life, Eileen, they settled in Elizabeth, where they would raise their three children. As a family, they would spend countless hours with close friends, making memories that they hold dear.
Family vacations in the Outer Banks were among his greatest joys. The memories of these times will bring his family comfort in the days to come. He was a devoted husband, father, and pop-pop to his six grandchildren, who adored him and will miss him terribly. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He would never miss an activity that they were involved in or the chance to talk sports with his grandsons.
Preceding him in death were his mother and father. He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Eileen, of 56 years; their children: Bill Blum of Union and his wife Michele, Jennifer Romanski of Cranford, and Kate Dursee of Scotch Plains and her husband Tim; grandchildren Emily, Hailey, George, Aidan, Abby, and Charlie; as well as beloved nieces and nephews. While we are heartbroken by his passing, we will be forever grateful for the years that he was with us. In honor of his life and memory, please consider making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
