William “Bob” Martin

William Robert "Bob" Martin, 65, of Ruther Glen, Virginia passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025 (2 days before his 66th birthday) surrounded by loved ones after his battle with cancer.

Born in Argentia, Newfoundland on August 25, 1959 to Robert Thomas and Betty Lou (Underkofler) Martin, Bob was raised in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated from Sandalwood High School, class of 1977. Bob worked at Suddath Van Lines and Stewart Moving for many years. He was an avid Florida Gators fan, enjoyed deep sea fishing, and loved to make his family and friends laugh. He was always the life of the party and lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his partner and the love of his life of 23 years, Cheryl Covert, beloved daughter Cassie Shortland (Billy), sisters Tawnda Schroeder (Rick), Pam Noe (Kevin) and Coral Reid (Richard), five grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He always treasured his friends of which he had many.

A celebration of life will be held at a family member's residence on October 11, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. at 7011 Tonga Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32216.
