“He noticed everything, laughed gently, and loved deeply.”

William Charles Bolden was born on August 29, 1983, in Waco, Texas, to the late Alfreda Bolden. He passed away on October 31, 2022, in San Francisco, California, at the age of 39.

William was a deeply thoughtful and creative soul. He carried a quiet confidence, an observant nature, and a sensitivity to the world around him that shaped how he moved through life. He loved reading, reflection, and learning, and he possessed a sharp wit and intelligence that made his conversations engaging and memorable. William brought warmth, humor, and depth into the spaces he occupied, and his presence was felt even when he spoke little.

He was known as a protector. Deeply loyal, attentive, and caring, William had an instinct to look out for those he loved. He offered presence, insight, and quiet strength without ever seeking recognition.

William’s life was shaped by resilience. He navigated complexity with courage and met the world with depth and a searching heart. Despite the challenges he faced, he remained compassionate, sincere, and deeply human. Those who truly knew him
understood his capacity for love, his loyalty, and the tenderness beneath his strength.

William is survived by his brother, Nehemiah Bolden, San Diego, and his sister, Ashley Antoinette Bolden, Fort Worth, Texas, who carries his memory, voice, and legacy forward with intention, love, and truth. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins in various parts of the United States, who loved him and admired his genuine personality.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Alfreda Bolden; his grandfather, Millard Alva Bolden Sr.; and his grandmother, Wilhelmina Bolden.

William’s memory lives on through those who hold him close in their hearts, through stories, and through his purpose. He will be remembered not only for the struggles he endured but for the depth of his spirit, his grounded strength, his humanity, and the meaningful imprint he left on those who truly saw him.

A Sister’s Dedication

William,

You were never just my brother. You were my mirror, my witness, my protector, and my constant in a world that asked too much of us too early. You saw me when I had no language for myself, and you loved me without conditions or explanations.

We survived things together that were never meant for children. You carried more than your share, and you did it with quiet strength, humor, and heart. Even in your silence, you spoke volumes. Even in your absence, your presence remains.

I carry you with intention. I carry your truth, your gentleness, your depth, and your humanity forward. I will not let your story be reduced, misunderstood, or erased. I will
speak your name with clarity and honor. I will protect your legacy the way you always protected me.

Rest now, my brother. You are free to be. You are loved. You are remembered.

I will hold your hand forever.

-Your sister,
Ashley Antoinette Bolden

Final Blessing / Dedication

May William rest in peace, free from burden and pain, held in eternal light and love. His life mattered. His story matters. And his legacy lives on through those who speak his name with truth and honor.
