William "Will" Austin Derouin, affectionately known as Popz, age 44, passed away on December 5, 2025, in DeLand, Florida. He was born on February 21, 1981, in Lake City, Florida, to Raymond and Jean Derouin.
Will was devoted to the love of his life, Rebecca Marie Slade, and was a proud and loving father to Jordan, Caleb, and Kaden Derouin. His greatest passion in life was his family. A childhood sweetheart to Rebecca, Will moved with her to Volusia County, where together they built a strong and loving family.
He cherished simple moments, like motorcycle rides with his family, weekends spent in the woods, gathering around bonfires, and being at home with those he loved most. Will was full of wisdom and never hesitated to offer guidance or a listening ear to anyone in need, regardless of who they were. Family meant everything to him, and that sense of family extended far beyond blood. Friends were never "just friends," but people he cared for and looked after as his own. Most recently, the arrival of his granddaughter and grandson brought even more joy into his life, a role he embraced with pride, love, and devotion.
Will was preceded in death by his father, Raymond "Ray" Derouin and his beloved son, Caleb Derouin.
Will is survived by the love of his life, Rebecca Marie Slade (Big Mama); his sons Jordan and Kaden Derouin; daughter Chasity Thompson; his sister Michelle Works; his mother Jean Derouin; his grandchildren Oaklynn Marie and Hudson Hayes Derouin; and many extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Will will be remembered for his big heart, unwavering dedication to his family, and the countless memories he created with those he loved. Though his time on this earth was far too short, the love he gave and the lives he touched will live on forever.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
