William Andrew Doig went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Tarrytown, New York, Bill earned a degree in Mathematics from St. Lawrence University and later completed his Master’s degree while working full time.
Bill was a key member of the Joint Directors of Laboratories Data Fusion Group (DFG) beginning in the mid-1980s. The joint service DFG helped create a vital U.S. Data Fusion Community that later expanded internationally with journals, annual symposia, and workshops. As secretary, Bill organized meetings and maintained records, but he was also an active contributor valued for his Air Force experience, thoughtful insight, quiet humor, and love of music.
His career included service at the Rome Air Development Center, leadership at Compusec, and many years at SAIC supporting Navy computer security until retiring in 2014.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Bill shared 55½ years with his beloved wife, Phebe. He is lovingly remembered by his children Jennifer (Robert), Scott (Shelly), and William (Linda), and his seven cherished grandchildren. His life was marked by faith, integrity, and deep love for his family, and he will be greatly missed.
