William 'Bill' Gilbert, 97, of Northampton, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Northampton, PA.
Born in Somerset County, PA, Bill was the son of the late Francis Gilbert and Mabel (Blough) Gilbert. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia (Kenney) Gilbert, and by his son, William F. Gilbert.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the post-World War II occupation. He was a graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School and spent his working life as a tool and die machinist, retiring from Accurate Tool Company in West Chester, PA.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Lydia T. 'Tammy' Seidick, and her husband, Edward Seidick; daughter-in-law Donna Bard; and his cherished grandchildren, Alicia (Mike) Roland, Colleen (Amit) Corso, Jennifer Gilbert, Michael 'Mickey' Seidick, and Daniel Seidick. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Destiny Klein, Aaliyah Klein, Chase Roland, and Lola Corso. Bill is remembered by his sister, Doris Becony, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, wife, and son, he was preceded in death by his siblings James Gilbert, Mildred Shaffer, and Walter Gilbert.
Bill enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, and tennis, and spent his retirement years along the Florida Gulf Coast. He was known for his kindness and devotion to his family. He was affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Boulevard, Whitehall, PA 18052, with Rev. Christian Creyer officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private.
