A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Muldoon Assembly Church.
Visitation will begin at 9:30a.m., followed by services aptitudes 10:30a.m.
William Francis Ho'opai III, affectionately known as "Unko Bill," passed away on December 6, 2025, due to a sudden heart attack. He was 72 years old. Bill's passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the many lives he touched throughout the Mountain View community and beyond.
Born on May 21, 1953, in Makaua Kaaawa, Hawaiʻi, Bill was grow up with strong values of family, culture, and aloha. He proudly graduated from Kamehameha Schools, carrying the traditions and spirit of Hawaiʻi with him wherever life took him.
Bill was a man of deep love and loyalty. He is survived by his Brother Kendall Ho'opaiand Roland Ho'opai. Sister's Charlene Goeas, Wilma (Joseph) Sparacio, Lorilei Ho'opai, Babette Black, and was welcomed home by his sisters Madeline Green, Jo-Ann Kuʻuleina'ala Bell and Henrietta Ho'opai-Phillips. Though he had no biological children, Bill lovingly embraced Jonas Patterson, Venise Lono, and Taua Ahdar as his own, guiding and supporting them with pride and devotion.
Though a vegan by choice, Bill became a beloved figure in the local food scene as a combined co-founder of Hula Hands restaurant now 25 years and owner of West Berlin restaurant for 11 years that became iconic in the Mountain View area for over a decade. More than just places to eat, his establishments were gathering spaces filled with laughter, connection, and community. Bill was known not only for his entrepreneurial spirit, but for his generosity, authenticity, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.
Known for his warmth, humor, and unmistakable presence, Bill lived a life rooted in culture, kindness, and connection. His legacy will live on through the people he mentored, the community he built, and the countless memories shared around his tables.
Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance, love, aloha for a luncheon in the Gym area following the conclusion of the services. Mahalo.
