William Denver “Bill” Lowe, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor, age 79, of Estero, Florida and East Falmouth, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026, at his home in East Falmouth. He was surrounded by the love of his family during his final days as he bravely battled ALS.

Born on September 7, 1946, in Somerville, Massachusetts, Bill was the son of the late Phyllis (DiBenedetto) Lowe and Denver Lowe. He grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Burlington High School in 1964. He went on to earn his degree from Northeastern University in 1969 and later attended the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School—an experience that would help shape his distinguished professional career.

Bill’s work ethic and leadership were evident throughout his decades-long career. He held several executive roles, including Vice President positions at Digital Equipment Corporation, Zymacom, Avid Technology, and Stratus Technologies. Known for his humility and dedication, Bill was respected not only for his professional accomplishments but also for the way he treated those around him. He held high expectations for his teams but always looked out for their well-being. His mentorship and integrity left a lasting impression on colleagues who became lifelong friends.

His success at work sent him all over the world, but when he retired, it was being at home, whether at the Cape or Florida, and spending time with family, friends, and loved ones that mattered the most. His granddaughters softened him in the best ways, and he was immensely proud of his kids and granddaughters. The most important project in his endless list of projects was being a great provider and building a legacy that will continue for generations, bringing his family together at his favorite place on Cape Cod every summer.

Bill is survived by his wife Claire (Francis) Lowe, the love of his life for 56 years; daughter Stephanie Horton of Hudson, MA; son Michael Lowe and daughter-in-law Trudy Hyde of Baltimore, MD; granddaughters Sara Horton, Molly Horton, Abby Horton, and Emily Lowe; sisters Beverly Obremski of Lowell, MA and Carole Lowe of Everett, MA; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Everyone who knew Bill knew he had to get his mileage in every single day, regardless of location or weather. He ran well into his 60's, then transitioned to hours of brisk walking all over town. Those who knew him really well knew he had a competitive edge and would hear of how he "smoked " another walker or runner who was ahead of him. He took great pride in keeping meticulous care of his homes, landscaping, and cars. The "pride of ownership" was jokingly said many times when his kids were young, but really, it was no joke.

He enjoyed fishing and clamming and was a die-hard Boston sports fan. Bill especially loved Boston University hockey and was a long-time season ticket holder, even while attending Northeastern. His enthusiasm for sports was matched by the pride he took in every aspect of life—from personal projects to professional pursuits.

At Bill’s request, there will not be a service at this time. A celebration of Bill's life will be held in Falmouth later this May.
