OBITUARY
William David (Dave) Ransom, Jr.
October 21, 1953 – January 19, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, William David (Dave) Ransom, Jr., who passed away on January 19, 2026, at the age of 72.
Dave was born on October 21, 1953, and raised in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late William David Ransom, Sr. and Lucy McGill Ransom. Throughout his life, Dave was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Known for his competitive demeanor, dry humor, generosity, strength, and deep dedication to family, Dave was also a trusted teacher and mentor to those who sought his advice. He had a way of making those around him feel supported, valued, and loved
He is survived by his wife, LaJune Rogers Ransom, of Altoona, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Shayna Christensen, of Medford, Oregon; and his stepsons, Brett Rogers and Alec Rogers, both of Altoona, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his siblings: Gregory Ransom of Fredericksburg, Virginia; Betty Ransom Farrell of Costa Mesa, California; Donna Ransom Glover of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Regina Ransom Cheatom of Tucson, Arizona; and Robert Ransom of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Dave was a proud grandfather of four and a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Sylvester Ransom.
Dave had a lifelong love of sports and excelled in baseball and track and field while attending Chambersburg Area High School, graduating with the Class of 1971. His athletic achievements earned him a track and field scholarship to Shippensburg University. Dave was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving his country while stationed in San Diego, California. Following his military service, he remained in California and pursued a career in computer sales before eventually returning to Pennsylvania. In February 2005, he married LaJune Rogers. Prior to retirement, Dave continued his commitment to public service as a civil service employee with the Hollidaysburg Post Office.
Later in life, Dave found great joy in golf, pickleball, and RV travel. These pursuits became cherished passions, providing adventure, new friendships, and peaceful moments on the open road. Whether on the golf course, on the pickleball court, or traveling from place to place, he embraced life with enthusiasm and contentment.
Above all, family meant everything to Dave. He was supportive, protective, dependable, and encouraging—someone who could always be counted on through both everyday moments and life’s greatest challenges. The bond shared with him will be forever treasured.
Though our hearts ache in his absence, we are deeply grateful for the memories, laughter, and love he gave so freely. He will forever remain in our hearts.
