William Thomas Sandalls Jr

William Thomas Sandalls Jr, 82, passed away on March 11, 2026. He was born January 7, 1944 in Newport, Rhode Island to William Thomas Sandalls and Marion Hellman Sandalls. As the child of a Foreign Service Officer in the U.S., Bill lived in various places growing up, including Japan, Lebanon and Germany. After graduating from Yale, he served as a Naval officer with assignments in Vietnam and Washington and then attended
Harvard Business School. He started his finance career at Arthur Andersen & Company, moving to BayBanks where he was Vice Chairman, Executive Vice President, Treasurer and a Director. While at BayBanks, he also served as Chairman of Cirrus Network. After leaving BayBanks, he was Chief Operating Officer at Mastercard International and eventually Chief Financial Officer at the Dreyfus Fund. He is survived by his two children, William Thomas Sandalls III and Katharine Anne Sandalls, their respective spouses, Christa Mae Holmes and Richard John Picone, his sister Helen Milo Sandalls and nephew David Alexander Leshy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Benjamin Flood Sandalls and his wife Katharine Flood Sandalls.
