William H. "Bill" Sontag Jr., husband of Deborah Sontag, devoted father of Michael Sontag and Andrew (Rachel) Sontag, is survived by four grandchildren, as well as his stepchildren and step-grandchildren.
A graduate of St. Xavier High School, he earned a degree in marketing from Xavier University. He was the third-generation owner of H.A. Sontag Co., where he was known as a thoughtful and caring employer. After retiring to Florida, he excelled in his second career as an award-winning realtor.
Bill was a devoted father who loved coaching basketball and other sports. He was an avid tennis player and golfer, and a lifelong fan of Xavier Musketeer basketball. He also had a deep passion for music—playing guitar and bass in a college rock band, The Villagers, taking his sons to concerts, and encouraging their musical interests.
Bill will be remembered for his genuine warmth. Friendly and outgoing, he rarely missed an opportunity to brighten a stranger's day with a kind word or quick joke.
He passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 81. A gathering to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
