William "Bill" Stewart Wallace
September 27, 1947 - November 14, 2025

Bill was a quiet, gentle soul who lived with grace. He was kind, loving, thoughtful, and generous - always thinking of others - touching lives in ways that will endure.

In notes kept in his desk, he listed the qualities that mattered most to him - love, loving, respect, giving, generosity, devotion to family, hard work, conscientiousness, fun, sensitivity, gentleness, and intelligence. He lived each of these - not as aspirations, but simply as his way of being.

Post-retirement interests included family, geography, travel, music, social action, and fitness.

Colleagues at U.S. Department of Agriculture remember Bill as an empathetic, caring leader - making decisions thoughtfully, based on facts and analysis.

Plaque on clock given at retirement by longtime friends at Animal and Plant Inspection Service reads - "Thank you for showing us all the meaning of integrity, decency, and selfless dedication. To know you has been a rare and treasured privilege."

Bill leaves behind a family who loves him deeply.

Family is forever grateful for the compassionate end-of-life care provided by Gilchrist Hospice and dedicated staff of Brightview Rolling Hills in Catonsville, Maryland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill's name to:

A celebration of Bill's life will be private. He wished to be remembered as "a life guided by Unitarian Universalist principles and diverse sources of wisdom and spirituality, including teachings of the Tao Te Ching."

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Wallace Family at 2515 Sophia Chase Drive, Marriottsville, MD 21104.
