William "Billy" Whatley was a remarkable man who grew up in a close-knit Southern neighborhood in the 1950s, where neighbors were friends and family ties were strong. In those days, there were no fences separating people—just open yards and open hearts. He learned the value of hard work early in life, beginning his plumbing apprenticeship as a young, teenage father of three. His talent quickly became evident, and with his wife's loving support, he went on to build several successful businesses. He was, in every sense, a self-made man living the American dream.

Beyond his professional life, Bill embraced life to the fullest. He was fearless and a true adventurer. He was an exceptional water skier, a private pilot, and enjoyed flying a powered parachute. However, what truly set him apart was his generous spirit—he found joy in helping others. Through his work with Meals on Wheels, Bill did far more than simply deliver meals; he took the time to get to know the people he served, often staying to visit and ensure they were doing well. If someone needed assistance, he was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was fixing something around the house or making small repairs. He truly embodied kindness, compassion, and generosity.

Billy is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Karen Ribble Whatley; his daughter, Jennifer Compton, and her husband, Doug; his granddaughter, Rebekah Compton Do, and her husband, Michael Do; his great-grandson, Sawyer Do; and his grandson, Cameron Compton, and his fiancée, Anna Carolina. He also cherished his mother-in-law, Carole Orr; brother-in-law, David Orr; his twin brother, Stephen Whatley, and his wife, Debbie; his sister, Nancy Meyer, and her husband, Rick; along with many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He was welcomed into heaven by his sons, Joseph Wayne Whatley and William Thomas Whatley, as well as his dog, Joey; his father, Albert Ford Whatley; his mother, Orletta Faye Postlethwaite Whatley; his sister, Kathy Kettle; his nephews, Tommy Kettle Jr., and Stephen Whatley Jr.

Billy will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. A "Celebration of Life" is scheduled Saturday, April 18th, at the Oasis Restaurant on Lake Travis.
