William Wright Jr.

1944 - 2026

William Lee "Bill" Wright Jr., age 81, passed away on January 3, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born on May 9, 1944, in Salt Lake City.

Bill attended Olympus High School, where he excelled both academically and athletically. As a member of the wrestling team and state debate champion during his senior year, he demonstrated a passion for competition and learning that shaped his future endeavors. He continued his education at the University of Utah, earning a degree in Marketing.

Bill enjoyed a successful career in advertising sales and management. He began with Donrey Media Group in outdoor advertising before joining 3M, in Reno, NV, where he thrived as an accomplished salesman. His career continued back in Salt Lake City where he expanded to print and specialty sales, in the latter part of his work life. Bill's dedication and talent earned him numerous awards and incentive vacations, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike.

After retiring, Bill embraced his adventurous spirit by purchasing a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The open road became his haven, and he created cherished memories traveling with sober friends to destinations such as Sturgis and the Northwest coast. These journeys brought him immense joy and camaraderie.

Bill loved his faithful companion Grizzly (the 2nd). Their walks together around the apartment complex were a way to connect with some good neighbors both he and his old pal, Griz became very fond of.

As devoted fan of the University of Utah Utes, Bill relished analyzing games and discussing strategies with his son-in-law Chuck and grandson-in-law Michael. His love for sports fostered meaningful connections with those closest to him.

Bill is survived by his three daughters: Wendy Schimmel (Chuck), Lindsay Wright-Geurts (Tony), and Rachel Wright (Chris Axbom). He also leaves behind five grandchildren—Megan Schimmel, Lisa Priskos (Michael Priskos), Bailee Selders, Chloee Selders—and two great-grandsons Gabriel and Silas Priskos who will carry forward his legacy.

Bill Wright life was marked by achievement, adventure, and love for family—a legacy that will be treasured by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
