Wynoaka "Nokie" P. Lewis of Jonesborough, TN, passed away peacefully at home on January 29, 2026, at the age of 80 surrounded by her loving family. Nokie's life was marked by her deep connection to her family and her loving nature.
She is survived by a devoted family, including her loving husband, James "JD" Lewis of 60 years; sons Kevin (Judy) Lewis of Jonesborough and David (Janet) Lewis of Greeneville; and her cherished grandchildren, Allie Lewis (Alex Karras) of Berlin, Germany, Nick Lewis (Makiki Reuvers) of Philadelphia, PA, Belle Lewis (Matt Nolan) of Johnson City, Jacob (Sarah) Lewis of Jonesborough, Noah Lewis of Johnson City, Josh (Abby) Lewis of Knob Noster, MO, and Hannah Lewis (Cameron Bradley) of Johnson City. She also leaves behind her sister Debra Johnson of Chuckey and nephew, Jamie Johnson of Atlanta, GA. Wynoaka was preceded in death by her parents, James Earl and Pearl Orr Shortt.
Nokie was devoted to her family and loved them beyond measure, they were her greatest joy in life. Her happiest moments were when her family were all together under the same roof sharing family meals and spending time together. She was so very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved them so deeply.
She will be missed more than words can express.
The family kindly request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to an animal shelter of one's choice in her memory.
