With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Ysavel Rodriguez Chavez, who left this world peacefully on October 18th, 2025, surrounded by the family she lived her life for.
Ysavel (Grandma Bel) was the devoted wife of the late Jose Rheude Chavez , her soulmate and lifelong partner. Their love was a testament to loyalty, strength, and true companionship—one that continued beyond his passing and is now joyfully reunited in eternity.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Pedro and Leonor Rodriguez. Brothers Wences Lau "Ben" Rodriguez, Julio Rodriguez, Pete Rodriguez , and sisters, Ysidra Uvalle, and Elia Orona.
She is survived by her four loving children: Kennedy Chavez, Stanley Chavez and wife Veronica, DesaRae Nieto and husband Alfredo Jr, Jacob Chavez and wife Myra, all of Midland. Her 11 grandchildren, Stanley Chavez Jr, Stephanie Hendrix, and Savannah Chavez, Desi, Joab, Levi and Noah Nieto, Madisson, Boe, Meadow and Liam Chavez, and her two precious great-grandchildren, Anya and Baird Chavez who brought her immeasurable joy and pride. Alongside her siblings Louisa Rivera, Ernestina "Tina" Fuentes, Andrew Rodriguez, Genaro "Gene" Rodriguez, Israel Rodriguez, Hector Rodriguez, and several nieces and nephews. Nothing mattered more to her than family, and she gave every ounce of her heart to theirs.
A woman of great strength and unmatched devotion, Ysavel was known not only for her kind and generous spirit, but also for her unshakable loyalty and fierce fighting heart. When it came to protecting and defending her loved ones, she never backed down—standing strong both physically and verbally for those she cared about. She was the protector, the provider, and the powerful voice, the true Matriarch behind her family's strength.
She worked hard all her life and never asked for recognition. Her reward was seeing her family thrive. She had a heart of gold, a sharp wit, and a soul that left its mark on everyone she met. To her friends, she was a confidante. To her children, a guiding light. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a living legend. She devoted 20 years to Pecos Barstow Toyah ISD as a teachers assistant.
Though we grieve her passing, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the legacy she leaves behind—one of love, resilience, and unwavering strength.
A celebration of Ysavel's life will be held on Saturday , October 25, 2025 at St. Luke's Methodist Church in Midland. All who knew her and loved her are welcome to attend and honor her memory.
She lived for her family, loved with her whole being, and fought with unmatched passion. Her love will forever echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind. To God be the glory.
