Yvette Blossom Gur-Arie passed away on April 21, 2025. She was born on July 7, 1939, in New York City to Samson and Rachel (Goldschlager) Bandler. She received her baccalaureate degree in 1960 from the State University College of Education at New Paltz and began her career as a second-grade teacher at Forest Avenue Elementary School in West Babylon, New York. She married her husband, Ivan, on December 24, 1964, and they made their home on Long Island, New York, where they raised their children. After several years as a homemaker, she later returned to teaching before retiring in 1992. That same year, she and Ivan relocated to Tucson, Arizona. In 2019, she moved to Los Angeles to be closer to her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Gur-Arie; her son, David; and her sister, Miriam Sandler.

Survivors include her children Rachel (Paul) Medved, Michele (Steven) Dworkin, Deborah (Richard) Sodergren, and Joshua Gur-Arie; and four grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, Ellie, and Zachary.

Services and interment were held in West Babylon, New York.
