INEZ FRANKLIN

FRANKLIN, INEZ Inez Franklin of Vestavia Hills, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. A native of Habersham County, Georgia, Miss Franklin was a long time resident of Birmingham and had previously resided in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Batesville, Georgia but attended Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham. A member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Miss Franklin owned a beauty salon in Homewood, was an avid reader and a true gardener who loved sharing her gifts with many friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Faye Christie; brother-in-law, Alvin Christie; and nephew, Alvin Christie, Jr. She is survived by her two nieces, Inez (Wayne) Orr of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Kirk of Woodstock, Georgia; great nephew, Greg Kirk; and great niece, Amy Caplan. She is also survived by her extended family, Sandra Christie Oden (Terry) of Mountain Brook; and Christie Oden and Mary Elliott. The Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28th, at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. The reception for family and friends will commence one hour prior to the service. Memorials honoring Miss Inez Franklin may be directed to the Red Cross or to the National Wildlife Fund. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (879-3401) located at 1800 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. >
