Jesse Miles Obituary

MILES, Jesse James - Age 71, formerly of Flint, MI, departed this life, Thursday, December 29, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Funeral Service has already taken place. Mr. Jesse J. Miles was born April 17, 1940 in Greenwood, Mississippi, to Charles and Abbey Miles. He later moved to West Memphis, Arkansas, where he was a 1959 graduate of Wonder High School. Mr. Miles continued his education at University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff receiving his B.A. In 1971, he accepted Christ has his Savior at an early age and was later united with New Jerusalem Full Gospel Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan. Mr. Miles began his career at Hurley Medical Center. He was later employed by AC/Delphi for over 30 years. Jesse enjoyed his retirement, especially his favorite past-time, which was playing golf. He was a skilled golfer, having won several tournaments. Mr. Miles also enjoyed spending time with family and friends and working part-time at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Jesse had a great sense of humor, was quick-witted and could always come with funny one-liners to keep people laughing. He leaves to cherish his memory: devoted wife of 35 years, Margie Diane (Brady) Miles; two daughters, Theresa Miles-Ferguson (Michael Bates) of Pine Bluff, AR and Doretha (Wadell) White of Flint; three sons, Jesse J. (Araminta) Miles of Providence, RI, Jaron Miles and Jamar Miles, both of Houston, TX; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Hattie B. Bell of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Eddie Miles of Flint and Thurman (Dakisha) Miles of Memphis, TN; mother-in-law, Margie Brady; three brothers-in-law; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends, Robert "Chicken" Lee of Pearl, MS, Eddie and Rita Mosely of West Memphis, AR, Rodger and Patricia Marshall of Flint, Lawrence and Valaria Moon and his co-workers at the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home. Mr. Miles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Abby Miles; sister, Eula Mae Johnson; brothers, Joe Nathan Miles, Jimmy Lee Miles, Willie James Miles and Charlie Miles; and grandson, DaMarrio Miles. We are deeply sorry to hear about the passing of Jesse. I waited on him and his side kick Harold at the Ivanhoe. My husband Rhett used to play golf with him. As you grieve know that we are remembering you and the memory of Jesse. He will remain in our hearts forever. Love Lynn & Rhett Bittner.

To the Miles Family, You are in our prayers and our thoughts. I am Chicken's sister. I have known Jesse practically all my life. He was my favorite of all my Brother's friends. The reason he was my favorie is because he was always so very complimentary of me. He once told me when I was about 9 or 10 years old that I was destined for good luck because I looked so much like my Dad. Well, now all young girls think their Dad is the most handsome man in the world. Jesse looked out for me when we were both students at UAPB. I loved him. May he find peace in God's Heavenly home. To the Miles family. Jesse was a great guy and one of the all time best supervisors at AC. I was a shop committeeman in his area and I don't think I ever got a call from his people. He was a friend to all that knew him. In his later days at AC he was transfered from plant 7 over to Dort highway (spark plug plant) where we saw our careers out together. I was at his retirement party at the Ivanhoe Bar. The picture you chose for him here is perfect. he had that great smile that instantly won people over. I only golfed with jesse One time as he was way out of my league. When He saw me hit the ball he gave me a silly look,than that smile,and finished our round showing great patients with me. It is my hope that your faith gets you through these hard times and that your memories of Jesse continue to bring a smile to your face,as they do me and all his friends from AC and especially Plant 7.
