Eloise Hightower Dunn
Eloise Hightower Dunn, 97, of Huntsville died Saturday morning. The widow of Woodrow E. Dunn, Mrs. Dunn was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, the daughter of Milton Graham and Antoinette Peters Hightower. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn married in the First Baptist Church of Sylacauga on November 4, 1939, and lived together in Huntsville and Honea Path, Union, and Anderson, South Carolina during Mr. Dunn's career in the textile industry. Mr. and Mrs. Dunn retired in Huntsville.
Mrs. Dunn was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and The Grace Club. She was famous for her delicious pound cake!
Mrs. Dunn is survived by her daughters, Harriet Dunn Giles of Huntsville and Jane Dunn Matheny of Lewisburg, West Virginia; granddaughters, Shannon Weatherall Cope of Huntsville and Amy Matheny Churilla of Columbia, Maryland; and grandson, Reid Matheny of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mrs. Dunn's granddaughter, Amy Weatherall Witherington died August 9, 2002. Mrs. Dunn is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The funeral will begin at 2:00 p.m. with burial thereafter in Maple Hill Cemetery.
