JAMES ANTHONY Obituary

ANTHONY, JAMES A. The Reverend James A. Anthony, age 69, transitioned on April 24, 2012. He was a retired Methodist minister with the North Alabama Conference. In retirement, he was an active member of Brownsville United Methodist Church where he served in various capacities. Survivors: son, Ralph Watkins, Jr. (Francis), daughters, Jeanetta Davis and Sylvia Kingka; two brothers, Elder Alphonzo Anthony (Shirley) and Max Anthony (Doris); two sisters, Myrtle Anthony and Martha Adams; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and church family. Visitation is Friday from 12-8 pm at the funeral home; family hour is 6-7 pm. Services will be held Saturday, April 28th at 1:00 pm at Brownsville United Methodist Church (1049 Sunhill Rd, Birmingham); the Rev. Kevin Higgs, Officiant. Burial will follow in George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens. >>

We did not hear about Jimmy's death until Thursday and did not have time to prepare to come form South Carolina. We would be there but will come soon. He was a good intelligent man and a dear cousin.
